2020 Jury Member Announcement & PRINDIE Curated Collection: Pavel Brenner
Updated: Jul 23
Every week leading up to the official selection announcement and virtual festival presentation, we will be introducing 2020 jury members and films to be viewed for FREE by the artists we love and support in our new PRINDIE Curated Collection!
Without further ado, PRINDIE would like to announce the 2020 jury member participation of director and cinematographer, Pavel Brenner!
Pavel was born and raised in Russia. He started his career as a graphic designer and then transitioned into film. Pavel brought his visual sensibilities to his directing and cinematography. His first big project, a music video for North American electronic artist Lorn, brought him a SXSW nomination and UKMVA win. i-D Magazine featured Pavel’s film collective R113 in their article ‘Five directors shaping the future of music videos’. Pavel’s work was featured by Rolling Stone Magazine, Vice, Paper Magazine, Flaunt, Nowness, Fader, Billboard, Directors Notes, Onepointfour and has won multiple Vimeo Staff Pick awards.

The Panics (NL)
Timesink is set in a world where humanity has been wiped out by a widespread disease. In sharp contrast with this catastrophic situation, our protagonist acts like a regular kid. The boy treats this post-pandemic world like a giant playground. At first, the story unfolds from his perspective, showing us that the exceptional quality of his surroundings is commonplace to him. We portray the boy alone, implying that he may be the last human survivor. As the video draws to a close, blood that drips from the boy’s eye suggests that his journey may soon be over. Because we have followed the boy throughout, his potential disappearance may strike us as a loss; a sinking feeling that the natural world will carry on without him, and hence without us.
Shot in Fall of 2019 pre-COVID-19. We hope you all stay safe, and spend this time with your loved ones in the midst of this global pandemic.
