2020 Jury Member Announcement: Andrew Lovett

Updated: Sep 1

Every week leading up to the official selection announcement and virtual festival presentation, we will be introducing 2020 jury members and films to be viewed for FREE by the artists we love and support in our new PRINDIE Curated Collection!

Without further ado, PRINDIE is honored to announce the 2020 jury member participation of Princeton University Educator and Research Specialist (composition), Andrew Lovett!

He will also be shepherding the Princeton University Center for Human Values Film Forum from Fall 2020 through Spring 2021 in the absence of Film Forum Director, Erika Kiss.

Andrew was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1962, and grew up in London, England. He studied at Cambridge University, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and City University, London.  Lovett worked as a freelance composer, based in Cambridge, UK, specializing in chamber-music, electroacoustic music, opera, music-theatre, and music for theatre and film. He forged an especially strong collaboration with London-based ensemble, The Electric Voice Theatre, writing a series of major works for them, which were premiered in Cambridge, London, and Colchester, UK.  He joined the Department of Music at Princeton University as a Professional Specialist in 2009.

He has a strong interest in music for silent films and regularly improvises on piano for screenings.
